Saferoads were contacted by the South Eastern Program Alliance (SEPA) to provide Traffic Calming solutions for temporary routes and pedestrian crossings, on the Dublin Rd Level Crossing Removal Project. These projects traditionally utilise concrete kerbing, which involves time consuming pouring and curing processes. Concrete kerbing also has the potential to develop cracks, chips and breaks due to vehicle impacts and natural elements. The team at SEPA wanted to explore an alternative to concrete kerbing, and Saferoads Rubber Kerbing was chosen for this project.
Rubber Kerbing was chosen for this project for as an alternative to concrete kerbing as it is cost effective and very quick to install. Rubber Kerbing is a maintenance free solution made from white EPDM rubber, which absorbs vehicle impacts, and doesn’t crack or chip. It offers quick and easy installation and removal, and can be used in many applications, providing medium to long term traffic management. Unlike concrete kerbing, rubber kerbing is resistant to greying from road grime over time and does not require constant maintenance to maintain its visibility.
The flexibility and efficiency of Rubber Kerbing as an alternative to traditional kerbing was paramount in the selection process on this project. Saferoads Rubber Kerbing has been recommended by SEPA as product that should be utilised on projects moving forward.
“The Saferoads Rubber Kerbing is an excellent product and made the process easy. ”
